The local area is ideal for walking, cycling and fishing or touring in the tranquillity of the beautiful French countryside, which is inspiring and appreciated for its landscape by painters. Or for a day out drive to Cognac, Poitiers, Niort, Angoulême and the Atlantic coast at La Rochelle, Ile de Ré, etc.
